MARIS
● Your data stays on your machine

A quiet hour is still an hour.

Maris turns your new tab into a calm workspace — a task board, a real time tracker, notes and your calendar — over photography that changes with the time of day.

Free. No account. Works offline.

Built around how focused work actually goes

Not another dashboard to maintain. Maris lives where you already are — the new tab — and gets out of the way the moment you start.

Tracker

A time tracker, not just a timer

Pomodoro or stopwatch, with the task attached to the session. Every minute lands somewhere, with a running day total, manual entries for the time you forgot, and CSV export.

Tasks

A board, with subtasks

Tasks, This Week and Today, grouped by date. Subtasks carry their own progress, and overdue work moves into Today instead of quietly disappearing.

Calendar

Your real week

Your Google Calendar on a Monday-first week grid with a now-line, opened at the working day. Read-only — Maris never writes to your calendar.

Notes

Notes that find themselves

The first line is the title. #tags tie things together and search covers both. Pinned notes stay on top, and edits save as you type.

Backdrops

Backdrops that breathe

Photography that rotates with the time of day, bundled so it loads instantly and works on a plane. The interface samples its colour from the picture behind it.

Offline

Instant, every time

No server, no bundle to download, no spinner. Every wallpaper and font ships with the extension, so a new tab paints before you've finished opening it.

Privacy, concretely

Most new-tab extensions are an advertising surface. Maris has no server to send anything to, which makes the promises below easy to keep.

No analytics. At all.

No tracking, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no third-party scripts. Nothing counts how often you open a tab.

No mail access

Maris requests no Gmail permission of any kind — not even the metadata-only one. It cannot see your inbox.

Nothing leaves by default

Tasks, sessions, notes and settings live in your browser's local storage. Google and weather are both opt-in, and both are off until you turn them on.
